2025 Grand Marshal

Dr. Horst Mehner


Our Grand Marshall this year is Dr. Horst Mehner. Dr. Mehner, an Army medic in Vietnam, received the Bronze Star for valor in combat after treating his wounded comrades despite his own serious injuries. Dr. Mehner also earned the Purple Heart Medal, the Combat Medical Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. After leaving the Army, he attended medical school, graduating in 1977. Dr. Mehner joined the Army Reserve as a Medical Corps doctor, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He spent most of his medical career in private practice in Internal Medicine in Auburn.
